The university received the top award from the Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education for its innovative broadcast messaging service. WSU was recognized for developing a broadcast messaging service used every day for targeted academic and operational messages, as well as for emergency alerts. It is unique in that each user receives messages on a variety of mobile devices by selecting one or more options such as text messaging, e-mail or instant messaging. The service is carrier-neutral, advertising-free, flexible, scaleable and tightly integrated with networking and learning management systems.
