Student Keerthisinghe Senevirathne (center) received the 1,000th doctorate awarded by the chemistry department.

When student Keerthisinghe Senevirathne received his doctorate, the Sri Lanka native made history in Detroit. His was the 1,000th doctorate awarded by the Department of Chemistry since its founding in 1945. Senevirathne worked with Associate Professor Stephanie Brock on his dissertation, and is the 10th PhD to graduate from her research group.
