Household pesticides have been long-recognized as substances that can affect the development of brain growth and function, either temporarily or permanently. A new study by pediatrics Professor Dr. Enrique Ostrea aims to expand our understanding of these toxins' damaging effects on the brain during its most important period of development. Ostrea’s $2.8 million grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development will fund his investigation into the damages caused by pesticides to fetal neurological development.
