Felix Fernandez-Madrid
A simple blood test that could detect breast cancer is being researched by a team led by Dr. Felix Fernandez-Madrid of internal medicine. A $1.67 million grant from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health will fund the project, in which the team will attempt to develop a diagnostic test based on proteins that accurately detects early and invasive forms of breast cancer.
