Community Arts Auditorium

Students present a program of music, dance and film to kick off our celebration. This program is offered in celebration and appreciation for the leadership of President and Mrs. Wilson and for their support of the arts at Wayne State. Sponsored by the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts and the WSU Alumni Association. 

Thursdays in the D 
This special Thursdays in the D is open to students, faculty, staff and anyone interested in celebrating President Wilson’s inauguration. 

9-10:30 p.m.
Three-story treasure hunt
Detroit Institute of Arts

Prizes for first, second and third place teams. DIA exhibits open for viewing until 10:30 p.m.


10 p.m.-midnight
History of Detroit scavenger hunt and dance party
Detroit Historical Museum

Prizes for first, second and third place teams. Enjoy a Detroit-themed snack break and wrap up the fun with a dance party in the museum’s Streets of Old Detroit exhibit. 

Thursdays in the D is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, the Student Senate and the Campus Activities Team.

A series of brief and unique presentations by WSU faculty, featuring the breadth and depth of research and scholarship at Wayne State University.  

Inauguration Ceremony Events*

3-4:15 p.m.
Inauguration Ceremony 
Community Arts Auditorium 

Includes traditional academic procession, salutations, dramatic reading, keynote remarks, installation, presidential address and traditional academic recession.

4:30-5:30 p.m. 
McGregor Memorial Conference Center, Rooms B/C and Atrium 

Open reception for all participants and ceremony attendees.
